Endeavor to persevere...
After much work, a few weeks, money, and colorful language my tired old desktop is once more fully functional... and working much better than when I started....

New 1 Terrabyte Hard Drive, new graphics card, new sound card, more RAM... New desk to put it on..

and what's amazing that even though I broke some power connectors I replaced them... AND the damn thing seems to work even though I need to probably upgrade the power source...

I was just a little scared when CS wouldn't work after I installed the new graphics card... AND I just noticed my sound stopped working... which in turn kept crashing the game...

I picked up new sound card today and it all seems to work just fine now...

My CS is reborn!!! Woo Hoo!!!

RE: Endeavor to persevere...
Congrats... I have an HP system that is repaired and ready to go with full surround sound and all the goodies I could have sold you! Glad to see you're up and running.

If you run, you'll only die tired.

One hand on the wheel, and one in the flame,
One foot on the gas, and one in the grave.

Boss, good to see you back up and posting. :smoke:

I'd blame the 52" screen. But, I know that was never the problem. ;)

cheers

RE: Endeavor to persevere...
Larry,

Mine is an HP I bought in 2005... I usually buy my computers with much upgrade potential... So, now that I'm a little more stable with location, I upgraded the old system to stretch it out a bit further... Luckily, no major equipment standard changes to limit the upgrade...

I want to buy a new i-7 chip computer, but decided to grind out the most of the one I have.. It means no issues with CS...

I'm just not sure I'll be buying a desktop again... I'm liking the flexibility that a lap top offers... but I still like the capability, upgradability, and cost that a desktop offers...

With my upgrades, the system will be good for another two years I think...

Regards

Jim
