30 JUNE 1941, Ukraine

Near the town of Lvov, three Mechanized Corps, 6.Army, Southwest Front did receive orders for a breakout to 150 miles east. Lvov was close to being completely encircled, the Germans had already taken up defensive positions east of the town. This meant that the Soviet breakout would have to take an indirect route, north and then eastward to the rendezvous point. Well aware that time was running out, the Soviet forces in Lvov, lead by their tanks threw themselves at the lightly defended north and southern outskirts of town.
