The French attacked. Large numbers of Hugenots routed and had the scenario been longer the French would have won. Cavalry is very expensive and cost the French heavily in points.
As the French/Catholics I found delaying and hee-haying around deciding what to do is costly, but on the flip side conducting an all out unplanned assault can be a killer. Cavalry is a great asset, but use it wisely because it is expensive to lose. Also beware of the Hugenot's guns and their heavy cavalry. With no objectives in this game you have alot of creativity in your attack, which can be good and bad.
