The French were crippled by the initial Austrian assault on Mount Trombasore, losing almost all their artillery. Still, they were able to counterattack at Zuane and rout two of the three Austrian brigades which were engaged at that point. The arrival of the last two Austrian columns allowed the Austrian commander to regain initiative, conquering Zuane and routing the French Right and Center divisions. In the end both sides were out of breath, having lost more than 11.000 men each, but the Austrians gained more objectives. A very thought and interesting battle.
