Opponent used the terrain effectively to limit the French advance. Most of the action was around Bartenstein; the objective hexes being almost unattainable the best tactic is to get points by eliminating enemy troops. A French cavalry brigade arrives in an odd place in the south and so managed to sneak behind the Russians to the objectives. The scenario would benefit from being longer, maybe 2 days, rather than a day's battle.
A very enjoyable if hard lesson from a more accomplished player than myself.
Seeing most objectives of the Russians are in the north and west I rushed most of the Russian forces including the Guard in that direction as they entered in the south expecting a French thrust north. Mr Moss feinted in the north and crashed the majority of the French forces against the very slow moving and artillery dominated Russian Left Wing that was still meandering onto the southern map edge south of Bartenstein as the lead french elements reached this crucial choke point.
Cue French seizure of said choke point and isolation and destruction of the Russian Left.
Fine scenario.
Best General won.
Thanks to my opponent.
