Russians had to very carefully pull back to avoid being massacred by German artillery and machine guns but slowly enough not to lose too many objectives. Right flank of Russians is pretty weak. Was closer than result suggests
"I may not agree with what you say but will defend to the death your right to say it"
German player needs to be aggressive with flanking maneuvers and select objectives carefully. High proportion of reserve troops means the offensive can run out of steam early before the objectives are reached.
