Kotovskoye, SW of Kishinev (Chisinau), 150km NW of Odessa: [Best played against Human opponent] Romania was the first of Germany's allies to be informed of the planned invasion of Russia. Even so the notice was so short that the Romanians were unable to participate in the initial attacks in June. Their first attacks across the Prut River did not take place until 3 July and were aimed at recapturing the Bessarabia capital of Kishinev (Chisinau). By July 13th the Romanians were nearing their objective, when elements of the 1st Royal Tank Division, including the 1st Royal Tank Regiment, encountered tanks and infantry from the poorly equipped Soviet 44th Tank Division, which was advancing to secure the crossings on the Kogilnik River near Kotovskoye. With the Romanian battle cry "Izbanda Sau Morte!" (Victory or Death) ringing in the air, a swirling tank battle quickly evolved where outdated Soviet T-26 tanks dueled the equally obsolete Romanian, Czech-built R-2s!
