** One Cold Morning - The Matrix Games version of East Front II

[This scenario is intended to be played with the Blitzkrieg EFII expansion pack installed] Location : 12 km Northeast of Yukhnov. The Luftwaffe airfield at Yukhnov was an important artery for the German war effort. The worsening weather and increasing Soviet resistance forced the Germans to form the first of the Luftwaffe ground units to protect the airfields and rear areas. Some smaller, company-sized, formations had been raised before, but it was not before the arrival of generalleutnant Eugen Meindl that the first major combat formations were formed. Immediatly after arriving at Yukhnov he decided to use the small forces he had to establish roadblocks on all the major roads leading towards the airfield. One of these was commanded by Dr. Neumann at Sukhinichi. In the meantime, the Soviets were probing wide and far in search of an easy way to Yukhnov. Finding none, they decided to strike at Sukhinichi with parts of the 45th Ski Brigade (which was still forming). When it became apparant that his green troops were under attack by a superior force, Dr. Neumann sent out a cry for help. Parts of the 2. Fallschirmjäger Regiment were ordered to head out and deliver Neumann from his precarious situation. With 12 km to cover, the paratroopers slugged forward to reach their comrade-in-arms.
