July 3rd, 1863 3:00pm 6 Turns The Confederate bombardment has ended. It is time for the men on both sides to heed the call to destiny. The Rebels march forth into the dissipating smoke of the cannon fire. As they emerge, flags flying and bayonets gleaming, the Union troops on Cemetery Ridge cannot help but be awestruck at the sight . But after a few moments of admiration, the Federals doublecheck their weapons, and bear down grimly to await the onslaught.
