June 18, 1815 9 Turns ---------------------[ Historical ]--------------------- Napoléon opened the day with a diversionary attack on the Hougoumont chateau, hoping that it might draw some of the Anglo-Allied reserves away from the center of their line while he waited for the ground to dry. As the day wore on, however, the defenders' stubborn defense caused battalion after battalion of French infantry to be drawn into the fight, turning it into a full-fledged assault. Ironically, this "diversion" was using up valuable reserves that Napoléon could not afford to waste.
