August 10, 1861 18 Turns ----------------------[ What If ]---------------------- 5:20 AM: At Wilson's Creek, Sigel had convinced Lyon to allow him to be detached from the main Union force and attack the Confederates from the southeast, while Lyon came in from the north. While this was supposed to result in the Confederates' retreat route being cut off, it instead allowed the Rebs to first defeat Sigel and then turn their attention to Lyon. What if Sigel had not been allowed to separate his force and had attacked with the rest of the Union army? Could Lyon have defeated the Confederates at Wilson's Creek ...possibly changing the course of the war in the Trans-Mississippi area?
