April 6, 1862 7 Turns ---------------------[ Historical ]--------------------- 3:40 PM: Since before noon the Rebs had been launching determined attacks against the Union Line running through the woods along a slightly sunken wagon trail. Again and again the the attacks had been repulsed by a heavy fusilade of lead. Routed rebels had likened the area to a "hornet's nest", and the name had stuck. General Ruggles, tired of the bloodshed, had finally gathered together a formidable mass of artilley, and trained them on the blue line across Duncan field. About 4 PM the cannons began to talk. Further to the east, General A.S. Johnston, also tiring of the stalemate, was gathering Confederate regiments to lead into battle near the Sarah Bell Peach Orchard. The Federals line, while formidable, was becoming tired and more brittle with each Confederate attack. As the Union player, you may very well find your forces surrounded -- and soon overwhelmed. Rather than have your units wiped out in the "Hornet's Nest", you may find it prudent to attempt to withdraw some off the map edge.
