September 17, 1862 36 Turns -------------------[ What If ]--------------------- 7am: This scenario assumes that the Federal IX Corps has received orders to attack at 7 AM - and goes into action immediately. This assault, coordinated with the Federal push by Hooker's and Mansfield's corps from the north, puts much more pressure on the Army of Northern Virginia. Lee cannot now afford to transfer John Walker's division, stationed near the "Lower Bridge", to reinforce Jackson. McLaws' and R.H. Anderson's divisions are still assumed to arrive shortly after 6 AM from Harpers Ferry, but both must be dispatched northward immediately to help shore up the Confederate left. Can the IX Corps turn the Rebels' right flank and cut off the escape route of Lee's army?
