September 17, 1862 12 Turns ------------------[ Historical ]------------------ 9am: Following in the footsteps of Sedgwick's division, William French originally intended to move his division in on Sedgwick's right. Events conspired against this, however, as French's Federals encountered advance units of D.H. Hill; and the axis of his advance moved him southward, directly toward Hill's men waiting behind crude breastworks along a sunken farm lane. This scenario has French's Third Division of Sumner's II Corps ready for its initial assault on the entrenched Rebels of D.H. Hill's Division in the Sunken Road. Israel Richardson's 1st Division of the II Corps, behind French, will enter the fray soon. Also on the way are Confederate reinforcements of R.H. Anderson's division, rushed to the new "hotspot" by General Lee.
