Sept. 7, 1812 24 Turns ----------------------[ What If? ]---------------------- Murat and Ney had taken the flèches and Semenovskoe, and a gap appeared in the Russian line as the VIII Corps disintegrated under the French onslaught. Ney called for the Guard, and Napoléon ordered the Young Guard forward - then canceled the order, unwilling to commit his only fresh reserve. The oppurtunity passed. What if Napoléon had released the Guard? Could he have split the Russians in two and driven them from the field?
