August 30, 1862 33 Turns ------------------[ Historical ]----------------- 9:20am: This one-day scenario begins early on the second day of the battle. General John Pope, the Union commander, received a cheering report early in the morning from Marsena Patrick indicating the Confederates were withdrawing westward. In reality, Patrick had witnessed Anderson's division pulling back from an exposed position it had taken during the night when it arrived. Deluded by this report, and still blissfully unaware of Longstreet's corps of greyclad veterans hovering on his left flank, Pope has decided to continue to assault Jackson's line. Meanwhile, at Confederate Headquarters, Lee and Longstreet are preparing a giant trap of their own - if Jackson's troops can continue to hold off the Federals for a few more hours.
