Fromentel-sur-Orne, France
The 3rd Armored Division was ordered to advance to the north and west and link up with the Canadian First Army. The small village of Fromentel-sur-Orne was on the way. The Germans were fighting with more desperation as the time passed. They knew what it would mean if the Falaise Gap was closed.
The German forces that were holding Fromentel-sur-Orne were, none other than, the 1st SS Panzer Division 'LAH', Hitler's bodyguard unit. They were one of the elite units in the German Army. This division had earned a fierce reputation both in the east and the west. Wherever they went, they held their ground.
Now the 3rd Armored Division would find out what the 1st SS were made of. Could they take the village of Fromentel-sur-Orne from the 1st SS Panzer Division 'LAH' or not?
