La Senaudiere, France
43rd Royal Tank Regiment, of the 79th Armored Division was equipped with Churchill Crocodiles. These were the most destructive flame throwing tanks devised in World War II. They would support the advance of the other units with their special equipment.
The 12th SS Panzer Division had moved into the area around Caen. They were fanatical in the extreme. Most under the age of twenty, they had their youthful resolve to fuel their determination to hold in battle.
On this day the lead element of an infantry unit was supported by the C Squadron, 2nd Battalion, 43rd RTR. In the small hamlet of La Senaudiere the Croc's would be forced to fight as tanks as well as flame throwers.
