South side of the Falaise Pocket, France
The 1st SS Panzer Division had been sent all across France. They fought every nationality of troops the Allies landed in France. Now they are bottled up in the Falaise Pocket. The SS men are holding part of the pocket on the south side facing the American 3rd Armored Division.
The 3rd Armored Division occupied a bulge in the lines near the village of Fronlentel. As the offensive began they opened their attack with an advance toward the village of la Frenaye.
Another battle inside the hell of the hedgerows was about to begin.
