22 March 1945, West of Vesprem, Hungary, The 2nd SS Panzer Division had a long and distinguished combat record. This was a very experienced division. Around the 20th of March they were loaded on a train to be sent back to defend the approaches to Vienna. When the division loaded onto the train at Vesprem, Hungary, the 4th Company of the II Panzer Battalion "DR" was ordered to act as rear guard. As the trains pulled out, and it was their turn to load, they were informed that Soviet tank columns had cut the rail line to the west. They were now trapped in the pocket. The 4th and 9th Guards Armies of the 3rd Ukrainian Front had already pushed past Vesprem in their attempt to trap the German divisions against Lake Balaton. They had cast their net but the big catch had gotten away. Now Soviets would settle for whatever they could catch in their trap. It remained to be seen if the 2nd SS Panzer Division rear guard could get out of the trap. Can you get us out of this trap Sergeant? If not we spend the rest of the war in a Soviet Gulag!!

This is an end of the war series scenario. This is also an exit scenario based on an actual battle involving Oberscharfuhrer Ernst Barkmann, one of Germany's highest tank aces. Barkmann, Ernst: was credited with 82 Kills and was one of the highest scoring Panther commanders. See why he had earlier won the Knight’s Cross. My exit scenarios have been balanced to actually give the gamer an opportunity to win. This is not like the average exit scenario you will play!!
