18 January, 1945, Near the villages of Sergelyes and Elzamajor, Hungary. The second drive started on January 18th and made substantial headway. The same day the defenders of Pest surrendered, it seemed that help was finally on the way. German Panzer's were once again on the move and masters of all they surveyed. The 1st Panzer Division along with the 509th Heavy Tank Battalion combined the fire power of Panther and King Tiger tanks to drive the Soviet forces farther and farther east. The Soviet 57th Army commanders were worried about being trapped against the Danube. The advance was moving forward. Soon the battle would be decided. The full weight of the German IV SS Panzer Korps along with the 1st Panzer Division and 509th Heavy Tank Battalion would clash with 5th Guards Cavalry and 1st Mechanized Corps. Very soon it would be decided who would be King of the Hill!
