6th june 1944. The American 29th Infantry Division lands elements of the 116RCT on Dog 1 beach and assault the German 352nd Infantry Division protecting the Vierville draw. American forces are - 2x companies of Infantry 2x companies of Rangers 5x Tanks German forces - 2x Infantry companies + heavy weapons and fortifications. This is based on the real battle so expect horrific losses until the Americans clear the beaches.

I played this scenario against my regular PBEM partner two times (once each side). I downloaded it in around Jan-Feb 2014 so it may have been tweaked by the designer since then.

Mission Briefings are missing for both sides which was frustrating. I had to go into scenario editor to see if I was even getting any reinforcements at all. So a big negative on that count.

Map is really nice. Well Done.

Force Balance is skewed in favor of the Axis. Scenario was fun to play however.

******* Possible SPOILER ALERT ********

1st Run, me as Allies. Tried getting all my forces off the beach to base of the bluffs ASAP with result being near total annihilation. Called for ceasefire after ~ 45 minutes, having maybe 20 guys in total fit to fit and no tanks.

2nd Run, with me as Axis. My partner took different approach, kept most of his forces back at the shoreline and blasted away at the German emplacements, almost for better part of an hour. Essentially wiped out 90% of the front line defenders. German mortars with placement of TRPs along beach in front of bluff however was able to blunt any of his attempts to storm through the gap (partially predictable tactics by my opponent that I could see forming up and short time-on-target offered by TRPs so shells and men reached FFE zones about same time). He called for Ceasefire about 1:45 into the game, having not breached the gap.

Suggestions for improvement:

Beef up scenario briefing (i.e., include one)

Fix play balance, e.g., less arty and/or TRPs for Axis as a suggestion, some additional tanks for Allies, and/or smoke.

As mentioned above, it was a fun scenario to play, even if we considered it unbalanced.
