The 2nd Armored division halted at the Belice River as there were no serviceable bridges left standing. During this period, the armored units assembled, and waited for the engineers. Concurrently, a Ranger taskforce was sent to scout across the river, and secure the groves astride Highway 115.

The scenario has a reasonable balance of forces. Not having any visible objectives is a bit different and even though the Italians came out on top in our match it could have gone either way or been a draw too.

Some notes about the scenario

Three items that really shaped this battle:
1) Mortars - the portable mortars on both sides were lethal and accounted for ~50% of allied and ~33% of axis casualties.
2) Half track(HT) MGs - the 0.50s were a big difference maker and have great firepower.
3) Italian rifles - the weakness of the standard 6.5mm rifle was evident as the HTs were able to roam with near impunity rather than serving as mobile coffins which is the case when they are fired upon by German 7.92mm small arms !!
