The unbalanced nature of the forces involved, the objectives and the size of the map make this nearly impossible to win as the Soviet player unless the German player is completely reckless. Specific issues are as follows:

1) Forces - The German force is all mounted in HTs with numerous 15mm and 20mm flak HTs while the Soviet side is entirely on foot with no ATG assets other than some ATRs (ATRs are more of a nuisance than a threat to HTs). The Soviets need to cross a lot of open ground to get to objectives - a suicide mission given the flak and MG42s awaiting them.

2) Objectives - Two of the five Soviet terrain objectives cannot be reached as they are ~2000m from the starting position of the main Soviet force. A third objective can be reached with some forward deployed elements but not enough to hold it. The other two terrain objectives take ~45 minutes of movement to arrive at. Each side receives half their VPs for inflicting casualties but as taking out any of the HTs requires a close quarter assault, Soviet VPs for inflicting casualties require a lot of luck. Conversely, the German player can stand off from a safe distance and kill Soviet infantry with flak and MG42s until they get bored or run out of ammo.

3) Map - Far too large for an all infantry force to operate on against a mounted opponent. As mentioned earlier, it takes 45 minutes just to get to the nearest objectives and even that is without anyone shooting at them!


Given the above issues, the only "Fix" that would help is to deploy the Soviet main force 1000m closer to the objectives and even that might not be enough but at least it would eliminate boredom for the Soviet player and give them a chance of achieving victory.
