Thought I had no chance as the French. Made a come back through superior firepower. ;) Paul may have burnt his forces out too early.
I think I blew my chance for a Victory when I wasted my Human waves in some pointless assaults.
Apparently there was really no chance for the French to turn Dien Bien Phu airhead into an offensive base, I lost an equivalent of an airborne coy (+) in terms of manpower there so not even a Pyrrhic victory.
The Viet Minh have set up a very nice ambush of two French Companies patrolling out of Dien Bien Phu along Route 41 on the way to Ban Him Lam village. Tried to assault fortified Viet Minh entrenched positions on two hills overlooking the road. Stopped a Human wave assault with superior firepower but ultimately couldn't get to the top of those hills. Wish I had some napalm.
I enjoyed playing as the Viet Minh this time. Attacked and destroyed the initial French patrol then melted away into the jungle. The French took the southern Hill after a fierce battle.
Viet Minh get their way at the start but it quickly turns. Well done and balanced scenario.
