Ap Bac - Divided Ground - Vietnam

ARVN troops have been ordered to destroy a VC command and transmission center in the hamlet of Ap Bac. An under strength ARVN infantry unit lands by helicopter just north of the hamlet, while two Civil Guard companies supported by M-113s approach from the south through the neighboring hamlet of Ap Tan Hiep. Infantry and Cavalry units will arrive later in the day. It is believed, through intel obtained from a VC prisoner that the area is guarded by a lightly armed VC squad of about 120.
