After landing north of Red Beach and establishing critical beach heads, marine armor arrive to assist in the taking of Hill 163 and what was thought to be the only remaining NVA stronghold in the area. The NVA determined not to loose the critical foothold north of Da Nang fought back with everything it had in the area and brought in an armor brigade to battle the US marines. As dawn broke the NVA launched their massive counter attack sure to leave both sides decimated before the smoke cleared.
