15:00, 11 October 1973. Best played with an Israeli human player. By the evening of 9 October the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) had largely returned to the "Purple Line" which had divided the Israeli controlled Golan Heights from Syrian territory following the 1967 Six Day War. After almost 4 days of fighting the vaunted IDF 7th and 188th "Barak" Armored Brigades were a shell of their former selves. With great effort by IDF support crews (who worked themselves to the bone to return MBTs and APCs to the combat units) brought the 7th Armored back up to a four armored battalion and one mechanized battalion unit. One of those units were the survivors of the Barak Brigade now down to single battalion sized unit. Still on the 11th of October these were the very units which would lead the break-in across the Purple line. Split into two task forces the northern force composed of the 77th and Koach Amos (82nd Bn?) Armored Bn's first cut through the Moroccan Independent Brigade near Hader and by afternoon were advancing on Beit Jan and Mazrat Beit Jan. Opposing them were units of the 7th Infantry Division's 68th Infantry Brigade. The IAF will make itself felt in this battle, as will the Syrian Air Force. remember the IDF has 4 hours (40 turns) to develop the attack. Clear the main Syrian defensive lines and the rest of the 68th Brigade should break. If you make it to Mazrat Beit Jan you've done slightly better than the IDF as they took the city on the 12th. If you exit unit off the board you've done much better! If you wish to contact me send E-mail to
