Poland, 12th November 1914: With the Lodz campaign underway, the campaign's first fighting was destined to occur along the Vistula River, given that this major obstacle cut an east to west path along the German axis of advance. The Germans intended to use the Vistula as a boundary to which they would anchor their left flank. On the 12th of November, the forward deployed Russian V Siberian Corps, of Rennenkampf's 1st Army made first contact with the Germans advancing from Thorn. The reserve formations of the Russian Army were no match for the Germans, but all they could hope to do is fall back and delay the German advance long enough for the rest of the Russian Army to respond. I managed a lucky break by pinning my opponent's right flank against the Vistula and capturing most of his troops. This left Wloclawek weakly defended and I was able to take the town objectives. But without that luck, I'd have suffered defeat. Tough scenario for the Central Powers.

The CP have to pin down the Allies before they retreat to the town and establishes a defense. Calvary assaults are very effective given the restrictive terrain, ground conditions and unit congestion on the small battle area. In addition, ground conditions make movement for both sides difficult.

If the weather turns bad; mud and rain storms, the Germans have a hard go of it. Russians lost 4000 men to 2000 for Germans and 36 guns to 6 for the Germans but managed to hold on to the objective hexes because of the mud.

Well balanced.
With equal opponents and no big mistakes it will most probably come down to a Draw. With some lucky Disruptions a Minor Victory can be achieved.
