Poland, 15th November 1914: On the 14th of November, von Mackensen issued orders to his corps commanders to advance with all haste to breach the Bzura River before the Russian 2nd Army, now reacting to the threat, could be redeployed to oppose the river crossings. The XVII. and XX.Armeekorps, I. and XXV.Reservekorps, and Höhere Kav.Kommand.1 all advanced southeast towards the town of Kutno in order to carry out that task. In their path was the Russian II Army Corps, two cavalry divisions and a collection of forces thrown together to form a continuous line from the Bzura to the Vistula rivers. Outnumbered at least 3:1, the Russians disintegrated under the attack; their only hope was to pull back the dangerously exposed II Army Corps, and to fight a delaying action as the Germans kept up their breakthrough towards the Bzura. Strange, the general conception was quite the opposite during testing. Personally this was one of my more favorite scenarios because of the mobility in the center with the cavalry.
Maybe a few more play throughs are needed to prove it one way or the other. Certainly the key to success is the center, and how well the Germans can exploit into the Russian rear areas (and how fast). If it really does turn out the lop sided after some plays, an update will certainly readjust the VP levels. :)
