Beograd, 7th October 1915:
For the first five days of the fourth invasion, the Germans and Austro-Hungarians conducted their precarious crossings of the Sava and Danube Rivers. In the Beograd sector, the Germans and Austro-Hungarians intended to quickly capture Beograd and establish a bridgehead while the main German effort crossed the Danube further to the east.
The Beograd attack was preceded by days of artillery bombardment, and on the morning of the 7th, the assault was carried out in several directions. The Germans crossed by boat and pontoon bridge at or near the Zigeuner Insel, and the Austro-Hungarians crossed by boat from Veliko Ratno Ostrvo island and Krnjaca.
