Bir Gifgafa, June 8th 1967: In the early morning hours of the 8th June, the tank battalions of a battle-weary, Tal Division was halted on the main road back to Ismailia. It was an effort to block the retreat of the finest division in the Egyptian Army, the 4th Tank Division. Although the Israelis clearly won this battle, the Egyptians still managed to slip away in considerable numbers to fight another day.
