0617_01: The TDC Corridor - MC 03 Korea '85

Tongduchon [TDC], north of Seoul, June 17th 1985 [D+2]: The ROK VI Corps was trying to regroup behind the line of the Imjin. The river line was being held by the 20th ROK Mech as the battered infantry divisions passed through to the south. Most of the ROK units were through the bottleneck now north of the city. North Korean forces had now paused for a couple of hours to regroup their forces. 8th Army HQ decided to use the 1st and 2nd Brigades of the US 2nd Infantry Division, and the ROK 20th Division's armor, to counter-attack using the crossing site and a crossing to the east. The objective was to hit the NK hard in the flank and retake Yonch'on with the intent to demoralize the enemy and show them that this fight had just begun. [Size: small]
