CCh'ungju area, South Korea, June 29th 1985 [D+14]: On June 29th, after a massive preparatory bombing raid around the perimeter of Seoul, allied forces launch the counter offensive to relieve its determined defenders. The brunt of the attack fell primarily on US forces in the centre sector. These forces were to break through the North Korean front line and link up with the US 3rd Marine Division and elements of the US 2nd Infantry division attacking out of Seoul. This attack would then turn the tables on the North Koreans by isolating and destroying the bulk of their mechanized forces to the southwest.
