0713_01: The Crimson Flood - MC 03 Korea '85

Korean Peninsula, July 13th 1985 [D+28]: On July 10th North Korea capitulated. The humiliation of yet another North Korea defeat and the possibility of a capitalist neighbor was too much for China to stomach. China immediately began drawing up plans for intervening in the peninsula. China came up with two objectives; The primary objective was to "liberate" North Korea and reinstate a puppet regime of a new Democratic People's Republic of Korea. This puppet regime, on the surface, would keep the North Korean people content rather than assuming direct rule. This would remove the threat of a capitalist neighbor and provide them a buffer zone of security again. The second objective was to conquer South Korea should the situation permit. On July 10th 28 Chinese divisions flooded across the Yalu River like a crimson flood thus extending one of the bloodiest conflicts in world history. [Size: very large] Designer's notes: The Chinese infantry are some what of a unique unit compared to anything represented thus far in the Modern Campaigns series. They are relatively weak defensively and can suffer large numbers of casualties when used improperly but they can be a unstoppable juggernaut on the assault. They are also extremely mobile for foot infantry. The Chinese Type 80 tank was released to the press in 1987. It is widely speculated that this tank was in limited service prior to this so it has been included in small numbers in the Chinese elite 1st Tank Division in the Beijing Assault Force. Because of the Type 80's infancy in this operation it is prone to maintenance failures.
