Bremerhaven, June 12th 1985: The Warsaw Pact has been able to push NATO forces in Northern Germany back to the Weser River. They have taken everything north of the Elbe River. Denmark is ready to collapse. Although, weakened and tired, divisions of the Soviet 2nd Guards Tank Army are preparing to make yet another thrust. This time the objective is Bremerhaven. +++++ The 11th PanzerGrenadier Division of I Korps, along with the 2nd Armored Division Forward (a brigade unit), has established a line of defense along the Hamme River (between the Elbe and Weser rivers). Bremerhaven is one of two major ports in West Germany to remain under NATO control. The 11th PanzerGrenadier Division (+) is to make sure that this port stays in NATO’s hands.
