Bad Kissingen, June 10th 1985: As the Red Army swept across the frontier, surprising the NATO armies in their peace time deployment locations, it was the task of the 39th Guards Mot Rifle Divison to cover the left flank of the 8th Guards Army, as they drove forward toward Fulda and Frankfurt. The task of the 39th was simple, drive forward, sweeping aside 'The Eaglehorse', the American 2/11 ACR garrison at Bad Kissingen, and cover the flank of the advancing 8th Guards Army protecting against NATO units driving north from Wurzburg. NATO was able to set and hold a line...WP needs to be aggressive and flank for victory.
Crazy Ivan attack is hard to stop.
Went right down to the last turn with most of the Nato force destroyed or disrupted and holding out in Bad Kissengen.
The _ALT version has all the known liabilities and strenghts of that design. Not really my cup of tea, but my opponent insisted we play _ALT instead of Stock
WP has a big advantage in numbers. NATO reserves come too late. Still interesting to play.

Exciting and tense scenario! WP forces need to push hard and fast toward Bad Kissingen while protecting their right flank from NATO armor that will try to blunt the WP offensive axis. NATO has powerful armor formations (M1 Abrams and Leopard 1's) that must be softened up with air strikes and arty before being engaged by WP forces - especially the mech infantry. WP use of WMD "may" tip score to a WP Minor Victory, but most likely will result in stalemate when NATO retaliates with tactical nukes. Between equal skilled players, a Draw is the likely outcome. Worth playing this one again!
