Heraclea - In pursuit of glory, Pyrrhus of Epirus lands in Italy with an army of over 20,000 men and 20 elephants in support of the Greek city of Tarentum, which is concerned at the expansion of Roman power southwards. This is Pyrrhus' first battle against the Romans and his unfamiliar elephants prove effective. At this period it appears that the Roman Principes were still armed with the long spear, like the Triarii, rather than with the pilum (44 turns, 40,000 pts a side)
