Lake Trasimene - Hannibal and his Carthaginian army positioned himself between two consular armies of Flaminius and Servilius. Flaminius pursed Hannibal's army and force-marching his forces was trying and put himself ahead of his enemy, and with doing this he threw caution to the wind.
Hannibal then decides to lay an ambush before the other Roman army commanded by Servilius could arrive to reinforce Flaminius.
Lighting fires on the far hills of Tuoro to deceive Flaminius that the Carthaginians were at a safe distance and tempting him to attack before both Roman consular armies joined forces. Drawing his troops up on the heights above the lake overlooking the pass that the Roman army will take in the morning, the trap was set.
