165km SW of Smolensk: On July 9th, 1941, units of Panzergruppe 2 are poised to cross the Dnepr River near Mogilev. Intel reports that the Soviets are building a new defensive line along the river. An earlier attempt to take Mogilev on the march failed. The 10th Motorized and 10th Panzer divisions have been ordered to cross the Dnepr by the 10th of July and advance toward Gorki. Elements of the SS Reich Motorized Division will be arriving soon to help. Should Mogilev be bypassed? [2750 sq km - 23 turns]

A tough grinding battle as we played it out.
The Germans will be challenged mightily in this one especially if the Russian player can conduct an organized withdrawl away from the river and therefore preventing the German from breaking through.
A good starter for a campaign game, but misleading; in the campaign it's impossible for the Soviets not to get outmanouvered pretty fast.
I am afraid something has happened to Mark and I sure do hope that he has just grown weary and vanished rather than that, such a fine guy and an opponent.
Russians well dug in and have massive artillery support. Tough to do an opposed river crossing in that environment
The scenario can be both well balanced and completely unbalanced favouring the Soviets, depending on when and where a crossing is made and what the Soviet defender does.
The scenario is all about getting across the Dnepr as the name implies. If the Germans can cross in force, in time to make it to an exit objective they win. If the Russians can prevent the Germans from crossing the Dnepr, they win.
