West of Caen, D+20, June 26th, 1944 - Operation EPSOM: At the end of the opening phase, code-named MARTLET, the Germans still held the essential ground. However, the pressure the British had exerted opened a gap on Panzer Lehr's right flank. This caused it to move during the night giving up the village of Fontenay and Tessel Woods. Both sides had decided unknown to each other, to attack this area. The British to exploit the gap, the Germans to re-establish their line. Inevitably they clashed in the heavy rain which had developed through the night. As this armored clash took place, the famous SS General, Kurt "Panzer" Meyer, observing from Rauray, was told of the main event - EPSOM had started. The British VIII Corps was on the move. He acted promptly calling off the attack and withdrawing the panzers to ambush positions behind the infantry lines - right in the path of VIII Corps. .....if they could only 'weather the storm!' *Designers Note: The Epsom series of scenarios can be enjoyed as from either side or even H2H play, but is especially fun as Allied Human vs. an Axis AI Opponent.[Size: Very Small; Length: 9 turns]
