Velikaya Bereka, 50km SSE of Kharkov, 12 May 1942: Lt-Gen Gorodniansky's 6th Army, which was massed on the northwest corner of the 'Izyum Bulge', was to carry out the initial attack in the southern sector. Its task was to smash through the German and Hungarian defensive lines and drive northwest to Velikaya Bereka while opening a hole for the tank corps in the second wave to pass through and continue the push north to Kharkov itself. This alternative version of scenario #05 has a Soviet advantage using early release of the reserve regiment, the forward rifle division, and the attack force augmented by additional tanks from 21st Tank Corps.
