Ternovaia, 40kms NE of Kharkov, May 13th, 1942: Some of the most heavy and frustrating fighting in the Russian 38th Army sector occurred when they tried to seize the key German strongpoint in Ternovaia. Parts of two divisions attacked the town from the northeast, east, and southeast. The German garrison stubbornly continued to defend the town.
