Chuguev, 35km E of Kharkhov, May 16th, 1942: By the fifth day of the Soviet offensive, the Germans had gradually weakened their defenses in the Chuguev salient in an effort to stop the Russian thrust in the north at Staryy Saltov. Indeed, only up to 10 infantry battalions remained on the 60km front opposite the 199th and 304th Rifle Divisions. Furthermore, there were no Axis armored units in the area. The Soviet 38th Army on the north side of the salient had the fresh 114th Tank Brigade plus its own army reserves. To the south of the salient, the 6th Army had not yet committed the 21st or 23rd Tank Corps." WHAT IF" the Russians had recognized this opportunity and had taken the chance of committing their second echelon, plus their reserves, in a charge towards Chuguev and Zmiev to create their own pocket. One of the best scenarios of ALL PZC games!!!
one of my favorite scenarios of all time

Simply a great scenario. The Germans win if their orderly withdrawal isn't compromised. The Russians have to push hard and really need their armor in the German backfield.
Simply one of the best Kharkov 42 scenarios! The Russian has many offensive options, but needs to make surgical and deliberate advances against the German defense lines due to the Soviet being burdened with many "delicate" Morale D and E units. The Russian player needs to understand how best to use his important engineer assets and note that some sapper units do not have bridges. Careful fatigue management - even in this relatively short (24 turns) scenario is essential - especially for the Russian who can maintain offensives in any one area for only short periods of time due to his overall poor Morale units. Between equal players, this scenario is well balanced and victory can swing to either side. High replay value with multiple offensive and defensive options available for each side. Highly recommended scenario! Will play this one again!

Great scenario, many different ways this can play out. Lots of options for both sides.
Although an all infantry force, I felt the Germans always had a healthy numerical advantage. Only an impression as I have not played this scenario as the Germans.
