Even with a free hand to move all units, the Soviets can neither move fast enough or fight. They are tactically and operationally over-matched. I might as well have done nothing, as it proved impossible to extract any forces from the bulge due to the ground conditions. HQ unit movement was excruciating slow, so either units move at a snail's pace or they run out of fuel and ammo after a couple of turns. The best that can be said is that I provided my opponent a better "spirited defense" than the AI would have.
