Alamein Station, July 1st 1942: Rommel believed he had the 8th Army on the run and that he could easily break through the opposition and continue in triumph all the way to Alexandria and Cairo. He drew up plans to send the DAK on an end run to the south, as at Gazala and Mersa Matruh. He knew his weary troops could not withstand a protracted battle and, with only 55 panzers left, he wanted a swift end to hostilities. Here though, things did not go right from the start, the enemy were not where expected, the Desert Air Force threw wave after wave of aircraft at the DAK, and his men were getting more and more exhausted. [Size, medium] *Designer Note: Scenario best for Human vs. Human but certainly possible for Human vs. AI Play too.

The British forces need a release at some point, although when released it is a tough battle for the Axis player - maybe easier victory levels for them in exchange for the British releasing at some point.

The battle became defensive for the forces of the Axis, thus losing the main purpose which was to attack and advance towards the objectives, which were very distant and also very well defended. The RAF planes are playing a decisive role in countering the maneuvers of the Axis troops.
A little report of the game:
the Italian divisions Trento and Littorio penetrated the fortified belt of El Alamein and managed to reach the eastern end, taking advantage of the impossibility of the movement of the South African defenders, but this was not enough to achieve the most important objectives.
A corridor north of Ruweisat for German units fails to remain open.
The other Italian units arrive at the scene of the clashes too late and too tired, after two days of storm.
Virtually nonexistent Axis air forces.

Scenario seems difficult for the Axis player. Many of his units begin the game with high fatigue levels that can take 1-2 days to recover. Add to this that they are far from any of the objectives at the start and a fair chance of storms and you can begin to see the problem.
