North Africa, December 10th 1940: As the British swung north through the gap they attacked the Tummars and Maktila from the rear. Elements of 70th Infantry Division (-), 7th Armored Division and 4th Indian Division raced north towards Sidi Barrani to both prevent the escape of the Italian 4th CCNN Division and to also hinder the withdrawl of any Italian units from the Tummars and Maktila to the Sidi Barrani perimeter. On the morning of 10th December, 16th Brigade Group, 70th Infantry Division, arrived in a driving sand storm with orders to "hinder enemy movement proper from Sidi Barrani as well as enemy movement towards Sidi Barrani from easterly sectors." With the sand storm delaying his advance, Brigadier C.E.N. Lomax decided to seize the initiative and assault Sidi Barrani and the 4th CCNN Division within it. [Size, small] *Historical Note: The result would be a major victory with the capture of Sidi Barrani and the beginning of the persuit west, however, it would also be the largest loss of British life thus far as 300 men killed or wounded in the assault. Designer's Notes: Intended for PBEM or human allied vs. AI axis. Explicit Supply is possible.
