North Africa, December 10th 1940: On the night of 10th December, the 11th Hussars advanced on Buq Buq to reconnoiter the area. What they found was that the Italian 64th Infantry Division was making preparations to escape westwards through Halfaya Pass. The Colonel Combe quickly notified 7th Armored Division HQ of this finding and elements of the 4th and 7th Armored Brigades were quickly dispatched to prevent this from occuring. The ensuing clash saw the destruction of yet another Italian Division that almost narrowly escaped. At the end of the day on the 11th of December, all Italian forward defensive positions in Egypt had been crushed. at the cost of 600 allied dead and wounded, the Italians had lost 38,000 men, 237 guns and 73 tanks.
