North Africa, Cyrenaica, February 5th 1941: After Operation Compass and the siezure of Tobruk, the allies were in pursuit of the battered remnants of the Italian 10th Army. 10th Army's rout took them along the via Balbia and the allied pursuit was hindered by the excellent rear guard actions of the crack Italian 10th Bersaglieri Regt. O'Connor faced a dilemma. He decided to send the 7th Armored Division and its worn out vehicles and men across 150 miles of unreconnoitered desert to Mechili and westwards to the Gulf of Sirte coast. This suprise move would effectively cut a direct path across Cyranaica and place the allies in front of 10th Army's route of escape. The ensuing battle would become a desperate clash by both sides as the Italians tried to escape with their lives and the British attempted to seal their fate by springing a giant trap. [Size, medium] *Designer's Notes: The Italian Stragglers have been designated as a (pseudo motorized) unit; These units were riding on any vehicle they could find and they were completely disorganized; They were everything from cooks to infantry just attempting to escape back to Lybia; Because of this, these units were created as type [foot] and to also allow them to have a defense value lower than 16 when dismounted. Intended for PBEM or human allied vs. AI axis. Explicit Supply is possible.
