Date: 12th May 1940 - Size: Medium - Description: Operation Fackel
Scenario Briefing: Holding the Westwall from Luxembourg to the Swiss border, Army Group C was allotted only a tertiary roll in Fall Gelb. Holding still for the first two days of the campaign, elements of Army Group C went into action on May 12th as part of Operation Fackel (Torch). Envisioned as a limited attack against the Maginot Line advance posts, Operation Fackel had two objectives: to distract from the main effort that was to develop at Sedan and to push the French away from Saarbrücken. Early on the 12th, elements of three German infantry divisions (7th, 252nd, and 258th) attacked toward Freyming, Merlebach, Stiring Wendel, and Zinzing. Though the Germans possessed a decisive advantage in numbers and firepower, the Zouves, Tirailleurs, and Chasseurs of the 11th Infantry and 82nd African Infantry divisions were ready to give the invader a sharp fight...
Design Notes:
1. Some French artillery regiments remain fixed for most or all of the scenario. This is to prevent the player from making the very unrealistic move of deploying heavy artillery north of the Maginot Line.
Recommended Rules: Alternative Assault Resolution, Artillery Set Up, Recon Spotting, Virtual Supply Trucks, Optional Surrender, Low Visibility Air Effects, Quality Fatigue Modifier, Counterbattery Fire, Night Fatigue, Programmed Weather, Limited Air Recon.
The Delayed Disruption Reporting rule will provide a more challenging experience for the attacking player.
Playing without the Limited Air Recon rule will provide a more realistic depiction of cooperation between German aerial reconnaissance and bomber forces, but may overstate Allied capabilities.

Very interesting small scenario where both sides get their chance.
